I LOVE FRIDAYS BECAUSE...

  • I am hoping to get some tooth relief this afternoon - pray that I make it through - frickin' teeth, I think I am better off with dentures!

It's the weekend!!

It's an extra long weekend because Monday is a holiday for some of us.

I will be joining Hollie and family for the twin's big 1st birthday this weekend!

I don't have to get up early...who am I kidding (but on the plus side, we finally got blinds for ALL our windows, so I'm hoping it will block out the early morning sun and MAYBE my child will sleep in now)

I am picking up my Quinny stroller tonight (thank you government severence pay)!!

We are going to my SIL's for a little poker tonight!

The weather is going to be superb this weekend!

My house is still standing...why you ask?  Apparently a plastic lid fell through the rack of my dishwasher last night and when we came home, the house STUNK and was filled with smoke cuz it fell through and melted.  Close call!  Hubby was M-A-D at me!  Lesson learned: no more plastic in the dishwasher!

What are you loving THIS FRIDAY?

Have a good weekend everyone - I will be back Monday if I survive the ROOT CANAL this afternoon!

QUICKIE

I decided that I will not be having Thrifty Thursdays anymore, due to the fact that I am pretty sure that everyone is looking at the same deals and websites as I am getting the information from.  In our area, there has been a recently new group added to Facebook - you can grab savings information from there.

In other news - went to the dentist and I need a lot of work done...first appointment that I have booked is to get a molar pulled and 2 residual roots pulled (which are basically teeth that have broken and all that is left is roots and they need to come out).  The second appointment booked is the other side of my mouth, another 2 residual roots pulled and a root canal (although he says that it's not as big as the other root canal I had before...lovely).

I was up all night last night in agonizing pain so I am calling the dentist to get in ASAP to get that root canal so I can be at some ease.  I cannot wait until August 15th.  I must be in pain if I am trying to get in earlier.

Oh did I mention that my dentist, the new one....he is YOUNGER than me.  Yep, lovely.  He takes a look at my mouth and asks me how old I am, I'm like 27 and he's like well you're a year older than me...and goes on to ask me why I have such bad teeth.  Gee, I don't know Buddy, maybe because I HATE DENTISTS - no offence!  Anyways, not thrilled that the dentist is younger than me....geez!

Anyways that is what is happening and until I get some relief, I may not be blogging....I feel like I am in a different world.  I hate not being able to take anything.  I do have a prescription for amoxillan (which is FINE to take while preggers) - and he says that should cut the pain because it's probably the infection that is causing it.  Doubtful - I need Tylenol 3 or Oxycontin. LOL.

We Want To Know...

Welcome to this week's edition of WWTK hosted by Mamarazzi and Alicia aka Queso.

Here are this week's questions and my answers:

{1} Who would you call if you had to get bailed out of jail?
I guess I would call my Hubby to come bail me out...

{2} If you were a superhero what would your hero name be?
I don't really know...I am thinking something like Super Mom - haha I know lame-o but I can't think this early in the morning.  I don't really have any COOL names...some people call me RED, I guess I could turn that into a super hero name somehow??

{3} What do you think is one of your best qualities?
Organization - I love to be organized...well as much as I can be.  I want to tackle my house and organize EVERYTHING but these days, the energy level is LOW so it will have to wait a few months!

{4} What song would you pick to be your own personal theme song?
When I read this question early this morning at home, I have been thinking what my personal song would be and I still have nothing...I like Mamarazzi's theme song being Eye of a Tiger...I will have to get back to ya's on this!

{5} What celebrity do you think is most over rated?
All of them...I hate the wannabe celebrities from reality shows - Jersey Shore and those Housewives...I don't really watch them but I don't like hearing about them!

Toothache

If you don't know - I HATE DENTISTS...however last year around this time, I had agonizing pain and had to go and get it checked.  I hadn't been to a dentist in YEARS (honestly, deathly scared of them) - anyways, I found this dentist near my work.  When I went,  I was sooo scared that they were going to lecture me etc...but it was sooo opposite.  Her name was Dr. Kanthavel and I loved her.  She made me feel calm and didn't hurt me at all.  She understood my fear and just dealt with what problems I had and didn't ask any questions.  I continued to see her...for a root canal, 3 fillings and a tooth pulled.  I still had work to be done but I took a break.

Lately I have had some more tooth pain, on the other side of my mouth and I know I have to get it looked at.  So yesterday, I called my dentist and I was shocked to find out that she had a baby in April and is not working.  How could this be?  I was just there, and she didn't look pregnant.  Apparently she didn't show and she didn't even know she was pregnant till 6 mths.  The receptionist made me an appointment with another dentist.  I have the appointment tomorrow and I have mixed emotions and feelings.  I feel like I am starting all over and that he's a HE and not going to be sooo understanding and calming.

Problem number 2 is that I am pregnant and I don't know what is allowed during pregnancy.  I have been reading online and I see that people have had root canals during pregnancy and everything is fine.  Others say not to go in the first trimester...some say you can't get x-rays, while others are saying that most offices now have digital and it's okay.  I understand the pain medication and stuff but I can still get froze to get a filling or a tooth pulled right?  I would prefer to be knocked right out but I don't think that is an option?

Any moms out there ever have tooth work during pregnancy?  I am sooo scared to go tomorrow but I need this pain to go away!

TGIF

Yesterday summed up in one word - SCORCHER

Maddy slept naked the last two nights because it's too hot

This weather is PERFECT weather for me, I NEVER complain of the heat.

I am really wanting to go to Mont Cascades Waterpark...

But I don't feel comfortable sporting a bathing suit (a 2 piece bikini) with my expanding belly!

Tomorrow we MAY take Maddy to see Winnie the Pooh in theatres (or wait till next weekend to see The Smurfs)

I really wish I would stop peeing...I don't remember peeing this much when I was pregnant with Maddy, only at the end...but this is unbearable.

Because of the peeing issue - there goes any plans of taking some sort of summer vacation...I couldn't travel far without stopping 10 zillion times!

Last night was too hot to cook - so we made sandwiches!

I guess my blog is boring to some people, because yesterday I had 36 followers, and now I only have 35...who left me??

Wednesday night while in at Blockbuster, I came across a candy liquidation bin...I scored packs of Jelly Belly's for $1.49...

I LOVE JELLY BELLYS - favorite kinds...pear, grapefruit, raspberry and berry blue...dislikes: chocolate, popcorn and watermelon.

I really want to go to Sugar Mountain

Last night, we felt an earthquake around 7:00 pm - the way to see if it was true and not dreaming...log on to Facebook - guaranteed within 5 mins, you would see that you weren't the only one feeling it!

Looking forward to a low key weekend...make an appearance at my sister's housewarming party and then watching our neice Saturday evening till Monday morning.

Have a good weekend everyone!

We Want to Know Wednesday

Here is this week's edition of We Want To Know Wednesday hosted by Mamarazzi and Queso.

Here are the questions and my answers:

{1} What would you do with an extra $1000 a month?
Oohh the possibilities are endless but something as simple as getting myself new clothes.  I RARELY buy myself new clothes (and when I do it's cuz I have to, like now, maternity clothes)
{2} What category of blogger do you think you best fall under?
There are categories of bloggers?  I had no idea...my blogging style is just writing my thoughts and linking up for some fun!
{3} What is your go to solution when you are having a bad hair day?
In my head I am thinking, shave it off (like this morning)...but really, I have bad hair days every day...I have some what curly hair that has to be made curly using mousse and sometimes if I let it dry too much in the mornings, the mousse just causes my hair to be itchy and my curls are crapola...like this morning!
{4} If you were a Crayon, what color would you be?
Right now, I would like to be a yellow crayon...why?  because I am feeling mellow today!
{5} They say love is in the little things. What is a little thing someone does to show you love?
I love how Maddy wants to know all about this new baby.  We get ready for bed (we sleep together) and I immediately turn on my side but now before she turns off the light, she says, don't turn around...and I ask her why and she says I want to talk and I ask her what about and she says...I want to talk about the new baby.  She then just asks me questions and tells me what she is going to do to help!  Awww!

Evaluations? Are they necessary?

Last year, Maddy had a 3 year old evaluation.  What is that you ask?  Well our CLSC calls you and makes an appointment, you bring your darling and cooperative 3 year old in and they assess them.  I am all for this, let's say when they start school, but is it necessary at 3 years old.  To make things worse, they have different sections they have to complete and all the while, doing things on command for complete strangers.

When I brought Maddy, I left in tears.  I was sooo upset because she did not cooperate even a little.  The first stop was the behaviour therapist - she sat Maddy down at a little table (or tried that is) and told her to cut paper (to see how she handles scissors), then showed her some shapes and stuff and asked her to say what they were...to count...things like that.  Well Maddy wanted nothing to do with this lady (didn't know this woman from a hole in the ground PLUS she had broken english and wasn't speaking right)...at the end of that assessment, the therapist looked at me and said that Maddy has some listening issues.  She rules the world and we let her do what she wants.  Nice!  Thanks lady!  So she talks to me about putting me on a waiting list for a therapist to assess her again and to actually go into her daycare setting and evaluate her, come to our house and evaluate her.  Ummm no thanks lady!  (She said she couldn't go to my daycare anyways because it wasn't in our jurisdiction).  The next steps weren't any easier.  The next stop was the speech therapist and Maddy did everything BUT TALK...I'm like, she has no issues talking, she's fine.  Finally Maddy screamed out, I don't want to talk to her!  There lady, she talks! Nice!  Next stop was the dental hyginest.  Yep, no way Maddy was getting near those big fake teeth and tooth brush.  This lady however made me feel stupid.  I didn't even know how to brush those fake teeth.  Who knew that we are told to NOT brush sideways cuz it just moves the junk around, but on kids, that's the way it's suppose to be done.  Then she asked me if Maddy had one of those electric toothbrushes?  I thought to myself...is the right answer yes because they are better...so I said yes and she's like NO, they are wrong - you should never brush her teeth with an electric brush.  I wanted to run out of there (at this point, I think my kid had wandered down the hallway screaming to leave)...last stop was the nurse who would check her eyes/vision and talk to me about nutrition and stuff and I think out of the 4 people, that was the easiest one cuz Maddy just sat on my knee (no doubt, pooped out from dodging everyone else)...

Anyways, the reason I am bringing this up is because I received a phone call this week and it's regarding the same thing I am thinking.  When I was there last year, they said they would be calling me back again for a 4 year old evaluation before she starts school.  What is boggling me though is that it's not my local CLSC calling, it's the MAIN one...which brings me to think that they have worked their way down their stupid waiting list and this is regarding Maddy's lack of listening.  We are playing phone tag and I still have not spoke with her but she will not be assessing Maddy - she listens, she has selective listening like most 3 year olds!

When I told my daycare about this, she has never heard of the whole 3 year old evalulation, she understands before they start school and even at that, she says she has only heard of those who have late birthdays and basically start a year early do a special testing.

Is this something just in my area?
Do you agree or disagree to make a 3 year old go through this?

Any thoughts or reassurance would be greatly appreciated!

Pounding Headache

So yesterday was a BAD DAY.  I had a pounding headache the minute I woke up until I went to bed (snuggled up with my magic bag on my head).  This whole "no taking Advil" thing during pregnancy SUCKS.  I could take Tylenol, but it scares me on just how much I am allowed of it and what it will do to my unborn child.  What I need to do is DRINK MORE WATER...yep I try now more than ever because I am pregnant, but I HATE WATER...blech!

Anyways after work, we went home, I hopped in the bath and Hubby cooked a quick supper and I cooked supper and didn't relax (I wrote this yesterday and this was the plan but things changed when we got home).  We played bingo and then snuggled up on the couch with popcorn to watch The Lincoln Lawyer and I fell asleep at 8:00 pm and went up to bed instead!

Hoping this headache is not around all day today!!

Weekend Recap

Friday evening...a group of us headed to Lonestar where we snacked on chips and salsa and celebrated birthdays.  The people there really liked us cuz we ordered 2 salsa's to go and ended up getting a third one free then he returned and handed Hubby a set of those cool Corona Salt and Pepper shakers for ordering the T-Bone.  Everyone was jealous.

Saturday, Hubby left early to go fishing and Maddy and I spent most of the day with my nanny.  I stopped in to see if she wanted to come to the next town with us and she said she needed to do groceries.  I had some stops, she had some stops and then our last stop was at hospital to see my Papa.  He has throat cancer and will be getting out this Friday for 6 weeks but then getting a lump removed.  He was given the option of eating again or talking - he chose to eat again, so once the surgery is done, he will have to rely on sign language and/or writing everything down.  After we put groceries away, we stayed for lunch with my Nanny.  I then proceeded to tell her that I had never made Rice Krispie squares before...so after lunch, she made me make some (and take them home).  That afternoon, Maddy and I went home, napped and just hung out.

Sunday was a pretty boring day.  Didn't leave the house except to get some greasy food for lunch and to return a movie.  It was a scorcher out there and I wasn't playing outside.  Sunday evening we were then hit with a major wind thunderstorm.  These storms are getting more and more intense and really scary.

The stage at Ottawa's Bluesfest even collapsed...you can read the story here.

Hope you all had a great weekend!!

TGIF

Here are some Friday Randoms:

Tonight, a gang of us are heading to Lone Star for supper to celebrate July Birthdays/Anniversaries and Birth Announcements (Hubby's birthday July 19, Josee's birthday July 27, Jill's birthday July 28, PK and Chad's Anniversary July 18 and PK due in December, Josee due in January and Me due Jan/Feb)

I sold a bunch of Maddy's toys on Facebook this week...have to slowly start emptying that spare room for new baby.  Bonus - made $110 on 3 things!

I need to do some major housecleaning on Saturday - bathrooms are a mess!

By the time Saturday comes, I may just take a nap though instead...haha!

I recently signed up to Netflix's free month trial again (used different email address....sshhh) and I have started watching the seasons of Being Erica.

I actually googled "how to remove wallpaper" yesterday...

I have one wall in the spare room that has wallpaper and I need it gone (it's not that bad actually, it's butterflies, however if it's a boy, that will not go)

I am really craving toasted tomato sandwiches - this week I have had 4!

I want this stroller for Baby #2 (yes, another stroller but I promise, I have gotten rid of most of my other ones...all I have left is a durable umbrella stroller and the bike trailer)

Hubby is FINALLY going fishing tomorrow with his cousin and friend...he has been itching to get out - so thank god it's arranged.

I need to hit up some Value Villages and thrift stores to find some maternity clothes.  Mine were lent out and never returned (even my expensive, most favorite pair of pants) so it looks like I will have to go out and get new ones.  Shirts nowadays are big enough that you just buy bigger but I will need pants for work.

We got our computer fixed and back up and running at home - I started downloading some songs lastnight - here were my faves lastnight:
  1. Dirt Road Anthem - Jason Aldean
  2. Remind Me - Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood
  3. Super Bass - Nicki Minaj
  4. TGIF - Katy Perry
  5. You and Tequila - Kenny Chesney
  6. Homeboy - Eric Church

We Want To Know Wednesday

I am linking up once again with Impulsive Addict, Janette, Mamarazzi and Shawn.

Here are this week's questions and my answers:

1. Which activities make you lose track of time?
I would have to say all things social networking...facebook especially.

2. Is there such a thing as perfect?
Besides me...NOPE...haha just kidding - NO ONE IS PERFECT

3. When do you feel most like yourself?
Don't really know the answer to this question, but I feel like myself most of the time...just not today...I am in a cranky mood because I am having sciatic nerve issues in my back and it feels like I am going to collapse.  My first pregnancy I experienced this too and thank god it was short lived...I hope this one is too!

4. Describe your life in a 6 word sentence.
Busy Mom with another on the way!!

5. Share one of your most beloved childhood memories.
I don't really remember much...I do remember the sleepovers though.  All the girls and I would crowd sleeping bags at one girl's house, watch movies and hang out.  I miss those days!

Camera Project

Back what seems like an eternity, my blogger friend Nicole decided to try a Camera Project.  She would send out two disposable cameras to those interested, we would each take 5 pictures and then she would develop them and write about it.  Today was the day - you can read all about our pictures here!

Thank you Nicole for doing this - it was fun, even if the camera got held up for a couple of weeks due to the Canada Post strike.  Glad to see it made it home safe and sound.

Big News

I am hosting another GREAT GIVEAWAY....haha only kidding, this news is much more exciting...like WAY MORE!!

Maddy is going to be a big sister around her birthday!  She is UBER excited for her "two boys" (BREATHE - for the point, we do not know we are having twins but this would be the second person who predicted I was going to have twin boys next...scary)!

I am roughly 11 weeks pregnant. I should be due around the end of January - beginning of February, like I was with Maddy...I was due January 26th with Maddy and she came out after induction on February 6th.  I wanted to keep it a secret and not tell people until after my doctors appointment, but that was impossible because I could only get in to see my doctor in the middle of August...I will be like 5 months by then (not entirely but you catch my drift).  It sorta makes me mad that I have to wait that long to see how far along I really am.  I have no idea.  I was keeping track of EVERYTHING for a year and a half AT LEAST and when no pregnancies were happening, we just gave up (thinking Hubby was accidently fixed during a kidney stone removal surgery...I kid you not)...but now here we are...EXPECTING BABY #2.

I am feeling very good - a little nauseous feeling at times but it was the same with Maddy...not sick or puking, just the constant feeling of being hungry.  I could literally eat all day.

Hubby is hoping for a boy seeing how his whole family is girls, him being the only boy.  I would love to have one of each obviously, but I know girls.  I have everything for a girl and most of my friends ended up having girls...but I could learn with a boy!

Maddy will be 5 when this baby is due and it makes me wonder if it will be like starting all over again.  I have seen many babies grow around me, but the whole feeding and schedules and diaper changes, it sorta overwhelms me.

The greatest thing about this pregnancy is that one of my best friends is also due around the same time as me (as in mere days).  She will have a tougher pregnancy because she lost her son Liam this past February, but they figured out what the problem is and will be correcting it in the next few weeks.  The downside of it, she will be on strict bedrest the WHOLE pregnancy.  No worries Jo, we will be coming to visit LOTS...we will even set up your Christmas tree!  I can't wait for us to be off at the same time, and spend time together with our babies.  I didn't have anyone off with me the first time around.  Stay strong and positive!

So that is my news everyone - I will keep everyone in the loop when and if anything exciting happens.  The rate it's going, I probably won't get an ultrasound till October.  We are going to find out the sex of the baby.  We found out with Maddy and I will be doing it again.  I like to be prepared.  I don't even know where this baby is going to bunk because my spare room is a toy room/computer room/storage room and if I have to put a crib and stuff in there, where the heck am I suppose to put the rest of the stuff??  I think it's time for a TOY SALE!!

Friday Confessional

I am linking up with the lovely Mamarazzi for this week's edition of Friday Confessions!

I confess that:
  • I am glad that it's Friday
  • I have spent most of my morning flipping through magazines
  • I ate a whole row of Girl Guide chocolate cream cookies this morning (before 10 am)
  • I really need groceries
  • I have been craving Baton Rouge's Potato Soup...YUMM-O
  • I hate the fact that summer is passing by way too quickly
  • I wish I had LOTS of money right now...for many different purchases...
  • I am not overly excited about Shawville Fair's lineup of entertainment this year...Friday night - Honeymoon Suite - who the hell is that?  Last I had heard, it was Trooper (I may only know one of their songs but that's more than I know of Honeymoon Suite)...Saturday night - Dean Brody (ok, he's OKAY) and Sunday night - Corb Lund (I seriously HATE these guys)
  • I really want a new house (anyone help?)
  • I wished Hubby was a little more handymanish and could magically transform my back porch into a toy room for Maddy...wishful thinking (and we only rent)
Have a good weekend and stay tuned for some exciting news next week!!

You've Got Mail!!

I have been anxiously waiting for a package to come in for me, but with the Canada Post strike, it was put on hold for close to a month.  Yesterday I got that card...that card that said I had a parcel.  I was sooooo excited!

There it was - my care package from the True Colors Blog Swap - all the way from Italy!  How exciting!  I couldn't wait to go home and rip it open.

I am a little embarrassed because it seems like I got a lot more than what I sent, but hey, it was my first time participating in one of these and I was sot of scared of what I could and could not send in the mail all the way to Italy.

Without further ado - here is what my package contained (my fave color being the obvious - purple):

Something Homemade - Jeannie made me two adorable cards and her recipe book on CD.

Italian Staple - here I was expecting a package of spaghetti, but even better, some crispy snacks - I am not sure what they are called but they were like little circles - almost like mini bagels - and the flavor I think is garlic and onion (judging by the picture on the bag)

Italian Sweets - a box of Berry Treats - again, the packaging is all italian, so I cannot tell you what it's called.  Also, a bar of Mousse Chocolate - pear and almond!

Accessories - a beautiful purple scarf and a gorgeous pair of purple earrings from her favorite accessory store in Italy.

Makeup - a bottle of purple nail polish and purple eye shadow bought from her favorite make up store in Italy.

Gift for Maddy and I - a beautiful purple China tea set.  It is gorgeous.  It had a rough trip all the way to my house in the mail and one of the little cups has a broken handle, but I think we can fix it up.  Maddy was ubber excited when I said that it was for both of us.

Thank you soooo much Jeannie - I am sorry that your gift isn't as pretty as mine was.  Next time I will do better, I promise!!

We Want to Know Wednesday

I am linking up with Janette, Mamarazzi, Shawn and Impulsive Addict for this week's We Want To Know Wednesday. This week, Janette came up with the questions and here they are:

1. Name five of your favorite new blogs that you're reading.
Here are 5 of my "newish" blogs that I am following: Jeannie's Happy World, All Along the Hightower, Jen's Place, Confessions of a Sailor's Wife and A Momma's Desires and Pacifiers
2. When you were a young child or teenager, did you have an idea of how many children you wanted and what their names would be?  Did you follow through on your ideas?
I always thought about having kids but I don't remember their names or anything...I remember what my friends baby names were though, I remember a friend of mine was going to have twins - a girl and a boy - and name them Zack and Zoey...she ended up with a boy and called hmi Dryden!
3. What is the silliest thing you fight with someone about?  It could be your spouse, sibling, parents, co-worker, etc.
I think it's safe to say that Hubby and I fight over things all the time...and it gets me mad when I KNOW I am right...so I keep dragging it on until he's like..."oh yea"!
4. What is your favorite scent that others may not find very nice? Ex. gasoline, sweat from your sweetie, etc.
Skunk...love the smell of skunk
5. What are your thoughts on plastic surgery? (Have you had it? Want it? Regrets?)
Never had plastic surgery and don't know if I would ever be brave enough...the whole surgery thing, needles and what the outcome will be is sorta scary for me...however...if I won money, I think I would put some into my boobs!! LOL

Happy Canada Day

Wishing everyone a Happy Canada Day...don't worry US friends, your holiday is next - July 4th!

This is one of my favorite "Canadian" songs (I know I know...I think this song is actually American but someone Canadianized it - and I remember it playing somewhere through my school years)
