We Want To Know...

Welcome to We Want to Know Q&A Wednesday
Hosted by Mamarazzi and Alicia aka Queso

Today is all about our childhood and here are this week's questions:

{1} Did you live in the same town or move around a lot as a child?
I am still living in the same little community that I was born in.  I did leave to the "city" for a couple of years, but once I wanted to settle down, I came back home!

{2} What were your parents like?
I don't know - parents!  I think they were pretty easy going (or we were just good kids and never really saw the bad side of them).

{3} Do you have any siblings? What were they like growing up?
A sister and brother, both younger than me.  Growing up with them...haha, well don't all siblings hate each other at SOME point...yea we fought A LOT - not so much my brother and I (he is like 6 years younger??) but my sister and I, yep, we fought all the time!

{4} Share a short story from your childhood.
I remember the year we had a big ICE STORM (sorry, can't remember the date) but it was bad.  Schools were cancelled - we were basically STRANDED in the house.  Most of our town had no power which resulted in a lot of places not even having heat and/or water.  Our house did have heat, so my aunt and uncle and their 4 kids came and crashed at our place.  It was soo crowded, people sleeping all over the place but I remember thinking it was sorta cool.  Eventually after a week of this, we were going stir crazy and our crazy parents sent us outside to play.  We decided to go sliding.  Talk about suicidal.  We went to the biggest hill, took almost an hour to climb up it (no word of a lie, it was GLARE ice) and then literally 2 seconds to get down...there were some injuries.  My cousin went flying way too far and don't remember what happened, but I remember seeing blood.  My other cousin tore her pants in two when she got caught up on a branch.  We walked back home after one spin down the hill, most of us in tears and couldn't believe our parents had just tried to kill us!! Haha!

{5} What did you look like? (share a childhood pic for a chance to win a prize)
I really wish I could upload our Class of 2000 video we made in Grade 1!  That is how I remember myself...I was sick that day but my mom made me go!  In the video, you hear someone hacking away (that would be me) and when it was my turn to get up and speak, I was wearing this green and white striped SMOCK dress with a FLOURESCENT YELLOW headband (with black polka dots) in my hair, pulling my bangs back but half my bangs all sticking up.  I had BIG red fluffy hair that sorta looked like a mullet gone back...big bangs and longer back...I don't know but when I saw this question, that's what first came to my mind.  Unfortunately I do not have any pics from my childhood with me today!

Do you REMEMBER our parents?! They were strict, hello! I'm also pretty sure Stephanie went flying into the trailer or something at DeHaan's next door and cut her forehead? I remember she was the one that got hurt when we went sliding. It was the Ice Storm of 1998 - I remember the date because Karen, Heather and I were at the BSB concert the night before the storm happened!

I remember snow storms from my childhood, but thankfully no ice storms, we just don't get them here.
But, being a parent, I can see how you would send kids outside after enforced time inside.

Definitely '98! ICESTORM '98!! I remember because the next year on the New York trip when one of the guys got drunk and started spitting ice at us, Sara and Amy called him ICESTORM '99. HAHA!!

Ah the good ol' days!! I have fond memories of sleeping over at your place and getting up early to make your family breakfast, Stace! It's weird, I remember Shannon, but I don't have any memories of Adam as a little guy...
